International Summer Schools

The International Seminar on Intellectual Property Law Program of 2010 SHUFE Graduates Summer School is a Sino-Europe Social Science Research Cooperation Program. Lectures are held by SHUFE Law and will be given by Distinguished Professors from EU and Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.

Nowadays, since digital technology is booming, and knowledge-based economy becomes dominant, governments all over the world focus more on IPR. In order to promote economic development and participate in international competition, China not only has to polish its IPR Legal Protection System, but also has to improve its law enforcement effectiveness.

This Program provides lectures on IPR outline, theories and hot legal issues as well as a comparison between the legislation and legal practices of China and those of other countries. And the seminar’s emphasis is about the new problems emerged in the field of IPR. The program helps students to understand and grasp the new trends of International IPR and practical problems of China’s IPR System.

Other lecturer and professors involved are Prof. Zhang Naigen (Fudan), Prof. Gao Fuping (ECUPL IPR School), Dr. Tang Guanhong (SHUFE Law), Researcher Dr. Heidinger (Gottingen) and Assistant Researcher Allard Ringnalda (Utrecht).

2. Teaching Form and Arrangement

All the lectures are taught in English, with 38 class periods in total. It is planned to combine lectures (34 class periods) and seminars (4 class periods). Academic salon and group discussion are also welcomed depending on specific circumstances.

4. Enrollment

The Program plans to enroll 60 students (including overseas graduate students, teachers and IPR practitioners), who are

1) Doctors or Graduate Students interested in IPR Research. (About 45 students)

2) Teachers, researchers or practitioners in field of IPR, with age under 45. (About 15 students)

Candidates Qualification:

  1. Good English Listening and Speaking Skills required; Certificates for English Language Proficiency (including study experiences overseas) and Recommendation needed. (Electronic preferred)
  2. Candidates who have taken courses on IPR preferred; Reference needed.

5. Assessment and Certificate

1) Usual performance (40%) plus final rest (60%)

2) Candidate who gets grade over 60 is qualified to obtain certificate granted by Sino-Europe Social Science Research Cooperation Program and SHUFE Law

6. Application and Registration Time

Please download the Application Form on SHUFE Law Website (http://law.shufe.edu.cn). The Application Form and reference materials should be handed over to Li Taotao (Graduates Affairs Office of SHUFE Law) or E-mail toli.taotao@mail.shufe.edu.cn.

Registration Time: Jun. 1, 2010 - Jun. 27, 2010

Admission Result will be posted on SHUFE Law Website on Jul. 2, 2010. Meanwhile admission letter will also be sent to candidate’s E-mail box.

7. Fees and Rights

1) SHUFE Graduates Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) Summer School is a public welfare program; tuition fee free.

2) Registered students will be offered free courses materials.

3) Registered students will be provided with meals at campus canteens. Expenses should be covered by students themselves.

4) Students who live in Shanghai but outside SHUFE campus should cover traffic expenses themselves, yet those who in need of aids could indicate that in the Application Form and would be given a traffic subsidy of 50yuan. Candidates at their own expense are preferred under the same circumstances.

5) Candidates coming from other cities should cover their own accommodations, yet those who in need of aids could apply subsidy of 40yuanper person per day in the Application Form. SHUFE is not required to arrange accommodations. Candidates at their own expense are preferred under the same circumstances.

8. Auditing

No-registered students, including non-qualified students or anyone who has interests, could apply to SHUFE Law with auditing intention. But auditing students won’t be offered courses materials, subsidies and certificates.
